Merry Christmas from WaterskiQLD
It is that time of year again! Christmas is only a few days away.
We wanted to take this opportunity to look back over the season so far and also wish all of our skiers a merry Christmas and a happy new year.
Ski you next year!
Message from the State Committee
A HUGE thank you to all the Judges and Officials across the state
“It has been another busy year on our calendar, welcome to everyone that is new to Water Ski Queensland or perhaps making a come back. Congratulations to everyone it has been a big year, to me the highlight was winning the Beynon Shield after 35 odd years plus some great results from Queenslanders including Worlds, Aussie Kiwis and the list goes on.
We are about to go into a little break then a busy period with Australian Junior Masters, Moomba, Aussie Kiwis, States, Nationals and the balance of our regional events.
A huge thank you to all the Judges and Officials across the state and those who have updated their skills and undertaken clinics during the year.
We are very lucky to have a dedicated team of people on board who started getting Nationals planning underway well over a year ago. We are starting to get to the pointy end, soon we will start releasing more details of sponsors and events. We are trying to sort quite a few of the different jobs we need covered, if you get a call in relation to States or Nationals hopefully you can assist. If we all pitch in, even with a small component it will share the load and make the whole event run that much more smoothly.
Nomination forms for Nationals will be out in the next few weeks, please take note of the closing date and submit them well in advance.
I hope you all have a safe and fun Christmas and New Year and enjoy the festive time with family and friends.”
Mark Quinn, WaterskiQLD President.
Message from the Southern Region
“So far in our region, we haven’t been able to complete all the tournaments due to poor weather conditions. Isis washed out and Woodford had to be postponed until January 2018.
The tournaments have been completely booked out with skiers which is great that the Southern Region has a large number of dedicated skiers attending, not to mention that the tournaments are booking out in six mins.
The Junior development committee members have a run couple of development days that have been successful and economical, particularly with the use of money raised through our Junior Development BBQ’s at our tournaments.
Ben has run a couple of Come and Try Days that have also been well received.
The Ozski L class jump turned on the conditions for our jumpers with several new PB’s for Sade Ferguson, Molly Ferguson Ryan Sciaccia and Riley Teague all helping them achieve scores for the Junior Worlds team selection and Moomba Masters.
The Lake Kurwongbah one day Slalom Fest events are proving to be a very popular tournament again this year – this means unfortunately many skiers end up on the waiting list as they have been fully booked out. Make sure to get in quick to secure your place for our January and February events.
Big thank you to all the committee members who donate extra time in the set up of L class tournaments.
Remember the Woodford tournament is now scheduled for the Australia Day long weekend.
